What it does

Who runs it

Roof Neighbor is built and operated by Sam Carlton, a software engineer in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

How it's funded

Roof Neighbor is free for homeowners. We select Oklahoma roofers in good standing with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB) to be listed as Sponsored. Sponsored roofers may pay a referral fee when a homeowner who matches a real repair or replacement profile reaches out. Sponsored listings are labeled Sponsored on every page they appear.

Non-sponsored community roofers in the directory are ranked independently of any payment. Their order is determined by location match, verification status, BBB rating, years in business, community signals, and the homeowner's own priority filters — not by money. This mirrors the matchmaker model used by NerdWallet and similar tools.

How the directory is built

The roofer directory is editorial. Sam compiles it from public records — primarily the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB) registry — and community recommendations. It is not a pay-for-placement listing and roofers cannot buy a slot by submitting a form.

The list is also designed to resist manipulation by reputation management companies and Google review farms. Roof Neighbor favors public licensing records, independently sourced community signals, and clearly disclosed sponsored placements over raw review volume.

Each listing includes the roofer's CIB registration status, BBB rating when available, service area, and community-source links when homeowner recommendations exist.
